2006. My first trip to Africa involved a seven hour canoe ride across Lake Victoria in search of the legendary rock gongs on Lolui Island, for a collaborative project to be shown at the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Kampala the following year. This trip was an eye opener in no small way. I was filled with inspiration; immersed in this new world, capturing and preserving fractions of my experiences. I have been travelling back to East Africa almost every year since then.
